Songs, Cycles and Scenas - premiere
New Noise join forces with Claire Booth (soprano) and Andrew Matthews-Owen (piano) for a performance of new and recent British music, including Alun Hoddinott's A Contemplation upon flowers (Myfanwy Piper).  New Noise has commissioned two new duos for this event, a second work for oboe and vibraphone from Howard Skempton titled Gloss and Rolf Hind's Fire in the Head, which takes as its starting point a phrase from the Buddha: you should live your life as if your head is on fire!  Prior to the performance broadcaster Katie Derham will be in conversation with some of the evenings composers.
